Description
Brimmicroft Cottage is a mid-18th century cottage that retains parts of an earlier building at each end and has been altered over time. It is constructed from watershot coursed sandstone with quoins and features a stone slate roof. The cottage has a double-depth, two-bay plan and stands two storeys high, with an almost symmetrical appearance and gable chimneys. On the left side, there is a boarded and glazed door set in a plain surround, which is protected by a glazed porch. The front has two windows on each floor, with three lights on the left and two lights on the right; the ground floor windows have square stone mullions, while the upper windows are sliding sashes with glazing bars. To the left, there is a single-storey continuation that was formerly topped with a very steeply-pitched roof, as suggested by the water-tabling; this section includes a recessed three-light chamfered mullion window and a stable door. There is a later addition at the right end, along with the ruins of a 17th-century building beyond that. At the rear, there are two two-light square mullioned windows at ground floor and one above. The interior has not been inspected.
