Description

WITHNELL CHORLEY ROAD (off) SD 62 SW 6/226 Ollerton Hall - - II

House. Dated 1840 on rainwater head. Ashlar, with low-pitched hipped slate roof. Square 3 x 3 bay plan, with service wing attached at east end. Two storeys, symmetrical, in classical style, with plinth, panelled pilasters and clasping corner pilasters, moulded cornice, low parapet; tetrastyle porch with 2 Doric columns in antis, plain entablature with cornice, door with 2 glazed panels and rectangular fanlight; 2 tall sashed windows at ground floor, 3 sashed windows above with aprons, and glazing bars making 12 panes and margin panes; left return wall to garden has 2 canted bays at ground floor, 3 sashed windows at 1st floor like those at front. Two chimneys on ridge flanking the entrance bay. Rainwater head to right of porch lettered P . Service wing J E 1840 of 2 lower storeys has altered fenestration. Interior not inspected but likely to contain features of interest.
