Description
Withnell Fold Bridge (Number 88) is an accommodation bridge that spans the Leeds-Liverpool Canal, constructed between 1812 and 1814. The supervising engineers for the project were Joseph and James Fletcher, and the contractor was Thomas Heaton. The bridge is built of coursed sandstone and features an elliptical portal with rusticated voussoirs and a keystone. It also has a band and a parapet made of larger rock-faced blocks.
