Description

Hallcroft Hall is a house built around 1840, constructed from ashlar stone with a slate roof. It stands two storeys tall and features a symmetrical facade with five bays. The building has a plinth and a band, along with a Roman Doric porch that includes a doorway with a shouldered architrave and a console keystone. The ground floor is adorned with tall sashed windows, each having a shouldered architrave and an expressed keystone. The eaves overhang and are supported by paired Ionic modillions. The roof is hipped and features four large dressed stacks, plus one additional stack at the rear.

The rear of the house has simpler window designs, consisting of four bays of sashed windows with shouldered monolithic jambs, while the outer bay windows on the first floor are blind. There is a doorway in the second bay that includes a fanlight, and a square attic window is set in a central gabled dormer. The left and right returns of the building each have three bays with similar window designs. The right-hand return wall features a three-light bay window supported by Doric columns in-antis and is topped with a richly moulded cornice.

Inside, there is an open-well staircase where the treads are treated as imposts, complemented by elaborate cast-iron balusters and a wreathed handrail. The stair-hall showcases a modillioned cornice, while other rooms have moulded cornices on the ceilings, with one room featuring console brackets.
