Description
Sutches Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the 18th century and was remodeled in the mid-19th century. It is constructed from coursed squared sandstone rubble with quoins and has a slate roof with brick chimneys. The building has a rectangular double-depth double-fronted plan, standing two storeys high with two windows that are almost symmetrical. There is a small 19th-century porch that is offset to the left of center, featuring a round-headed doorway and a hipped roof. Each floor has two vertical-rectangular windows, all with raised sills and plain surrounds, although the glazing has been altered. A small brick chimney is located to the left. At the rear, there is a doorway near the east end, two 3-light casement windows on each floor, and a brick chimney on the slope of the roof. Sutches Farmhouse forms a group with an associated barn, cart shed, stable, and stable/granary.
