Description
This barn, located about 10 metres south of Buckhurst Farmhouse, dates back to 1752, as indicated by the date inscribed on the lintel of a doorway in the right return wall, which is part of an extension. The barn is constructed from sandstone blocks with quoins and features a hipped slate roof over the extension to the right. Originally designed with three bays, it has been extended to now include four bays.
In the second bay, there is a large segmental-arched wagon entrance with voussoirs. The original right end of the barn has a blocked doorway with a large lintel, and to the right of this is a plain doorway with a splayed head. The right end has been altered to include a window, and there is a square loading door at the first floor level. The right return wall features a doorway with a large lintel inscribed with the letter "L," which was likely moved to this position when the extension was added.
