Description

This barn, located approximately 20 metres south of Lower Hill Farmhouse, dates from around 1700. It is constructed of roughly coursed sandstone rubble, with quoins and a stone slate roof featuring moulded gable copings. The barn consists of three bays, with a large lean-to extension added to the front of the first and second bays. This extension includes a blocked doorway on the right side, which has a cambered wooden lintel and dripstone, and a sheet roof. The third bay features external stone steps leading to the loft and a 2-light stone mullion window at the first floor. The right end wall has a doorway with plain jambs and a large humped lintel, along with two windows, two breathers, and an opening at the first floor.
