Description

This barn, located approximately 20 metres north of Higher Hill Farmhouse, is likely from the late 17th century and has been extended since its original construction. It is built from sandstone rubble arranged in dry-jointed courses and features quoins, topped with a stone slate roof that has gable copings. The barn consists of four bays, with a lofted addition on the left end. There are ventilation openings at two levels, most of which are blocked. The doorway to the original first bay has a large rectangular lintel, which is now blocked, while the opposed wagon entrances to the third bay are covered by canopies with cheeks. The addition on the left end includes a doorway, a horizontal rectangular window to the left, and a square opening above. Inside, the barn has a collar-truss roof.
