Description
Magnolia and The Meadows are two cottages located on the east side of School Lane in Dunham Massey. They date from the 17th century but have undergone considerable alteration and rebuilding. The cottages are constructed of English garden wall bond brick and feature thatched roofs. Each cottage is single-depth, with a room on either side of the door. The left gable has a lean-to, while the right side includes a porch.
The left cottage has one, two, and three-light casement windows, along with two eyebrow dormer windows and evidence of two brick label moulds. The right cottage has a stone plinth, and although much of the brickwork has been rebuilt, it retains one bay of timber framing. This cottage also features two and three-light casement windows and a 20th-century dormer window. The eaves have been raised on both cottages, which have three ridge chimney stacks.
