Description
A pair of cottages dating from the 17th century, with later alterations. The walls are of ham stone, squared and cut, with ashlar dressings. The roof is thatched, with a coped east gable and a half-hipped west gable, and brick chimney stacks. The cottages are two storeys high, with attics, and have an irregular arrangement of windows across four bays. There are ovolo-mould mullioned windows. To the left of the lower bay of the second cottage is a former four-light mullioned window where the mullions have been removed. Bay three has a four-light mullioned window, and bay four a three-light mullioned window, all with labels, and rectangular-leaded glazing to the left pair. Above, there are small three-light horizontal-bar casement windows, some set into the roof. A doorway with a very heavy frame and another with a slimmer frame are located between bays three and four, both doorways having boarded doors with glazed panels and thatched hoods supported by wood brackets. The east gable has further two-light mullioned windows with labels to the first floor, and two 20th-century casement windows. The west gable has a single-storey lean-to with a boarded door on the north side, and above this is a three-light casement window. Casement windows and small lean-to buildings are located at the rear of both cottages. The interior was not inspected.
