Description

The Beeches is a detached house, likely dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of ham stone rubble with ashlar dressings, and has a thatched roof with stepped coped gables and stone chimney stacks with heavy stone caps. The south elevation has four bays and is two storeys high, with attic space. The windows have plain mullioned surrounds, with each light slightly rebated. The upper bay of bay 3 features a casement window with a semi-circular arched head and Y-tracery set into the thatch, and French doors are located below in bays 1 and 2. A plain doorway is situated in bay 3. Running across bays 2 and 3 is a later 19th-century timber and glass conservatory with narrow semi-circular arched lights. A small, two-storey, single-bay extension is set back and lower on the east gable, with a horizontal-bar casement window to the attic, a two-light casement to the first floor, and a mullioned window below. The west gable incorporates a semi-circular arched window at first floor level. A rear extension with a hipped Welsh slate roof is also present. The interior was not inspected during the listing process.
