Description

Big Tree House is a mid-18th century house located on the south-west side of Charcoal Road, Dunham Massey. Originally listed as Jubilee House, it now stands where Woodhouse Lane once was. The house is built of English bond brick with roughcast and has a roof of graduated stone slates. It follows a gable-entrance plan with two storeys and an attic, alongside an outshut and a 20th-century extension to the rear. It features two two-storey bay windows on each floor, with sash windows separated by pilasters, and a dentilled eaves cornice and a coped parapet. A dentilled pediment sits above the gable entrance, which contains a half-glazed door, pilasters, and side lights. Other windows are casements. Inside, a fine Adam-style fireplace and an 18th-century staircase with a deep handrail are present.
