Description

Big Tree Cottages is a row of three cottages built in the early 19th century. They are constructed of Flemish bond brick and have a slate roof. Originally, there may have been four cottages, but now there are three. Cottages 3 and 4 are double-depth and one bay wide, while Cottage 1 is entered through the gable, is double-depth, and two rooms wide. The four-bay elevation features a door on the left in the first and second bays, which has cambered brick arches and heavy frames. Each bay has a three-light casement window on each floor with stone sills, cambered brick arches, and glazing bars. There are four ridge chimney stacks that date from the late 19th century. The cottages are included for their group value.
