Description
Big Tree Cottages is a building that consists of a house and a cottage, now converted into three cottages. The datestone marked "G.M. 1730" indicates its historical significance. The structure is built of brick in English bond and has a 20th-century tile roof. Originally, it was a central-entrance, two-storey house that was extended in the 18th century to add a cottage to the left under a continuous roof. At some point, a door was added to the right side of the house to create two cottages. Each cottage features a doorway with a heavy frame and a segmental brick arch, along with a window on each floor that has two or three-light casements and brick arches on the ground floor. The building has coped gables with kneelers and three 19th-century chimney stacks.
