Description
The Barn Tea Shop and The Barn is a house and adjoining barn, with the barn now converted for domestic use. It dates from the early 18th century and is constructed of watershot squared rubble with a graduated stone slate roof. The two-unit, two-storey house is positioned at right angles to the former barn. It features quoins and a projecting plinth. The front of the house, which faces west, is largely hidden by the barn, but the right-hand bay has two three-light chamfered mullion windows. There are gable chimney stacks and additional two and three-light chamfered mullion windows on the gables and rear. The barn originally had opposed cart entries on the south side, which are now blocked, and it is flanked by later outshut additions. On the north side, there is an original outshut. In the 20th century, windows and dormer windows were inserted. The house retains two original battened doors, one of which has a latch mechanism and handle, along with hewn beams. This building is included for its group value.
