Description
Sawyer's House is a former barn that has been converted into a house. It dates from the late 18th century and has been altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of colourwashed coursed limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and brick dressings, topped with pantiled roofs and featuring single ridge and gable stacks.
The front of the house is two storeys high and has an irregular three-bay layout. The entrance is off-center, featuring a flush panelled door flanked by glazing bar shop windows, all beneath a plain cornice. To the right, there is a blocked doorway flanked by a single three-light plain casement window, both set under segmental brick arches. On the first floor, there are two plain sliding sashes and two glazing bar sliding sashes positioned at the eaves. The barn structure continues to the right, where there is another blocked doorway beneath a timber lintel. The building is included for its group value.
