Description
No. 70 is a former tower mill that has been converted into a house. It dates from the early 19th century, with extensions and alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building features a tall, tapering tower that stands five storeys high, constructed of red brick in Flemish bond. The flat roof is not visible due to the eaves corbel course. On the ground floor, there are a pair of glazed French doors, while the third floor has a pair of half-glazed planked doors. Each floor has small hinged cast iron glazing bar lights, and all openings are topped with segmental brick heads.
To the left of the tower is an added block made of coursed squared limestone rubble, which has a pantiled roof with raised stone coped gables and a single brick ridge stack. The two-storey, three-bay front features a central planked door, a large 20th-century window to the left, and a single 20th-century glazing bar casement to the right, all with segmental brick heads. The first floor has three similar windows that align with the eaves.
