Description
Higher Ogden Cottages, specifically the two northern-most bays, is a house that has been converted into storage rooms. The date "C J IB 1660" is inscribed on the door lintel. The building is constructed from squared rubble and features a slate roof with graduated stone slates. It consists of two bays and stands two storeys tall. The left bay, known as Oak Cottage, was once a projecting gabled crosswing but is no longer of special interest. The building has a projecting plinth and a possibly porch-like projecting bay to the left, which includes quoins. There are two four-light double-chamfered mullion windows, both with hoodmoulds, although two of the mullions have been removed. Between these windows is a blocked door that has an obtuse-angled lintel with the date and recessed spandrels. The two first-floor windows have been altered to create gabled dormer windows. A door was added to the right side in the 19th century. The building features a ridge chimney stack and has two and three-light chamfered mullion windows at the rear, which also includes dormer windows and a brick porch. Inside, there is a timber-framed internal crosswall.
