Description
Top o' th' Hill Farmhouse and No. 9 Top o' th' Hill Cottages are a farmhouse and cottage dating from the late 18th century. They are constructed from hammer-dressed watershot stone and feature a slate roof. The building has a double-depth plan with a total of three bays and two storeys. The farmhouse has a symmetrical front with four 5-light recessed flat-faced stone mullion windows, each with two mullions removed, arranged around a central door. It also has an eaves cornice and gable and ridge chimney stacks. The cottage has a lower roofline and features a door with a dressed surround and a 3-light window on each floor, also with two missing mullions. The rear of the cottage is obscured by a 20th-century addition. It appears that the house was raised from one to two storeys at the rear and has three 4-light windows and one 5-light window similar to those at the front. The buildings are included for their group value.
