Description

Top O'th Hill is a pair of cottages from the early 19th century, attached to a single-storey cottage from the mid-18th century, now functioning as a single dwelling. The building is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and features a stone slate roof. It has two storeys and includes quoins. Each cottage has a doorway to the left of a 3-light flat-faced mullioned window with a slightly projecting sill, and a 4-light window above on the first floor. The gables are coped with kneelers, and there is a central stack along with another stack on the ridge. Attached to the right is a single-cell cottage that features a 3-light chamfered mullioned window (which is missing its mullions) and a doorway with a quoined lintel, tie-stone jambs, and a chamfered surround. This single-cell cottage has a stack on the ridge and is noted as a rare survival of early working-class housing.
