Description
This house, now divided into three separate dwellings, was originally built in the 17th century, with a porch added in 1617. It is located in Wadsworth. The building has a large roof covered in dressed stone slate, featuring coped gables, kneelers, and gable stacks. The design incorporates parallel roof sections. A cyma moulded string course runs along the building's exterior.
The two-storey, gabled porch has a Tudor-arched doorway with a moulded surround and a similar inner doorway. Above the doorway is a two-light window with a chamfered surround and arched lights (lacking mullions), and a date plaque inscribed "WILAM." To the right of the porch is an inserted doorway with the inscription "MITCHELL 1617", featuring monolithic jambs and a three-light, chamfered mullioned window on each floor. The left-hand return wall displays a weathered plinth alongside three double-chamfered mullioned windows on each floor. The ground-floor windows have ovolo moulded mullions. The windows are arranged as: a three-light window with a six-light window above; a three-light window with a six-light window above; and a two-light window with the same above. Hoodmoulds step over the windows. Further chamfered mullioned windows are present on the right-hand return wall, along with two additional gable stacks along the ridge.
