Description

The Old Town Farmhouse and attached barn date back to 1637, with a significant addition of an early 18th century barn. The farmhouse is constructed of large dressed stone, with smaller coursed stone for the barn, and has a stone slate roof, with blue slate on one side. It is a hall-and-crosswing house with a three-room plan and a through passage. The gabled crosswing features copings, kneelers, and a crocketed finial to the apex, along with quoins. There are ten-light, flat-faced mullioned windows, spanning three floors, while basement windows are blocked. The return wall of the wing has a doorway bearing the inscription "1637 AG". The farmhouse has an unusual stepped window with a taller central light of seven lights, featuring chamfered mullions. The through passage doorway has composite jambs and a chamfered surround, with a single arched light above leading to the first floor. A six-light window and a four-light double-chamfered mullioned window are also present on the first floor. The rear of the farmhouse features a through-passage doorway with a large monolithic lintel and a chamfered surround.

Attached to the farmhouse is a gabled building with a columbarium at its apex and two-light chamfered mullioned windows in the north wall, alongside a blocked taking-in door to the first floor. A barn situated at a right angle has a stilted arched cart entry and a simple Venetian window above. The barn's interior contains three bays with softwood queen-post trusses. The interior of the farmhouse was not inspected.
