Description
Hey Garners Farmhouse and Cottage is a farmhouse and cottage dating from the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed from hammer-dressed watershot stone and features a graduated stone slate and 20th-century tile roof. The building has a single-depth plan with three storeys and two bays, along with a later outshut to the rear, a wing to the left, and a two-bay cottage to the right.
The central door, which is now blocked, has a square-cut surround. There are five-light double-chamfered rendered mullion windows on the ground and first floors of bay one, and two and three-light recessed flat-faced mullion windows in bay two, with one mullion missing. The top floor, added in the later 18th century, has two four-light recessed flat-faced mullion windows. The building features gable chimney stacks and similar three-light windows at the rear, along with a taking-in door.
The cottage is of an earlier date and includes quoins, a 20th-century porch, a two-light recessed chamfered mullion window, and four-light recessed flat-faced windows at the rear. It was formerly part of a longer range.
