Description

This is a late 18th-century house, dated 1793 based on a rainwater head inscribed "JB" (John Buckley). It is located on the north side of Denshaw Road, Saddleworth. The house is built of hammer-dressed watershot stone with a graduated stone slate roof. It follows a double-depth central-staircase plan and has three storeys, with a 19th-century wing added to the left.

The front of the house features a projecting plinth, a band at first-floor level, a modillion eaves cornice, raised quoins, and prominent ridge chimney stacks. The symmetrical three-bay elevation is dominated by a central doorway, which has a raised block surround, a large keystone, a pulvinated frieze, and a pediment. The ground floor and first floor each have three windows, all with architrave surrounds and sash windows, but without glazing bars. A small, recessed 19th-century addition is set back on the left and was altered in the 20th century to incorporate a garage. The rear of the house has flat-faced mullion windows. There are three ridge chimney stacks.
