Description
The Barn and The Old School House are two houses, originally one larger structure, dating from the early to mid-18th century, with later 18th-century additions to the left, 19th-century extensions, and 20th-century alterations. The building is constructed of brick; the central 18th-century section exhibits a chequered pattern with vitreous headers, while the outer sections are primarily red brick with dentil eaves. The roof is tiled, with brick chimneys. The building is two stories high and comprises seven bays. The four original 18th-century bays retain a partial first-floor band course and have altered windows. The upper storey retains its original window rhythm, but now contains two 3-pane sashes, one 20th-century wooden casement, and one blind window panel. The ground floor features a 3-light barred wooden casement with a segmental head to the left, a barred wooden window and sash in blocked doorways to the centre, and a 2-light casement to the right. The later 18th-century bay to the left has 20th-century wooden casements with segmental heads – a 3-light casement on the ground floor and a 2-light casement above. A blocked door is located on the right side. The 19th-century flanking bays have hipped roofs and 20th-century paired barred casements. A 20th-century gabled porch provides access on the right end; another entry is located within a 19th-century brick block at the rear of the left bay.
