Description
Long Woodcocks Waggoners Cottage comprises two houses, originally dating back to the 16th century, with further extensions likely from the 17th century, although significantly rebuilt in the 19th and 20th centuries. A 20th-century bay is located to the left. The original two bays feature a rendered base wall and a timber frame with curved braces and brick infill above. The remainder of the building is constructed of brick. It has a plain tile roof and brick chimneys. The lower level of the two-storey structure is largely below road level. The cottage has approximately six bays, plus the 20th-century bay on the left. The right-hand bay is gabled to the front. Small, irregular wooden casements are present, with a single leaded light to the left in the 16th-century section. The right bay incorporates three-light wooden casements with bars, and the 20th-century extension is windowless. Access to the interior is through the rear and a porch at the right end. The original 16th-century bays retain some timber framing with curved wall braces and arched wind-braces in the internal walls, along with slight floor timbers and altered fireplaces.
