Description

No. 6 and the adjoining cottage to the south-east is a house built in 1747, although it has seen later additions and alterations. The structure is made of hammer-dressed watershot stone and has a graduated stone slate roof. It features an L-shaped, single-depth, two-storey plan with a later addition within the angle and an attached cottage. The house has dressed quoins and an eaves cornice.

The central door is surrounded by a dressed stone frame and is flanked by 19th-century two-light windows. On the first floor, there are four and three-light double-chamfered cavetto-moulded mullion windows. Gable chimney stacks are present, and the gable entrance features an enriched dated lintel decorated with fleur-de-lys and other motifs. There is a blocked arched attic light, and the rear range includes a five-light and a two-light window similar to those at the front.

The attached cottage, which faces north-east, has a projecting plinth and is constructed with more regular masonry. Its symmetrical elevation includes four 16-pane sash windows surrounding a central door. The rear of the cottage is similar in design, but the ground floor windows are blind.
