Description

No. 12, Church Fields is a house dating from the middle and late 18th century. It is constructed of hammer-dressed watershot stone with a graduated stone slate roof. The house is two bays wide, with four and three storeys, and has a two-span roof. The front has quoins and a lean-to with a stone flag roof at ground floor level. It features two-light, flat-faced mullion windows on the upper floors. Gable chimney stacks are present. A door is located in the left gable, with a dressed surround. Steps lead to a second-floor door on the right, which may have originally served as access to a separate house. The rear bay is of an earlier date. It contains a two-light, a five-light recessed chamfered mullion window to the right, and an arched attic light. The rear now incorporates garage doors on the ground floor, but retains three-light windows on the upper floors, with the top floor window enlarged to five lights.
