Description

The property comprises a house and an attached cottage, dating from the early 17th century with alterations, and a later 18th-century cottage addition. The house is constructed of coursed rubble with dressed stone detailing on the cottage portion. It has a stone slate roof. The south elevation features an addition to the left end with two bays of windows, characterised by plain stone surrounds and slightly projecting sills. There is a break in the stonework, followed by a similar bay of windows. To the left of an inserted French window is a four-light, double-chamfered mullioned window. Two 18th-century windows are positioned above this on the first floor. Quoins mark the junction with the end wall, which projects slightly, displaying two chamfered windows, formerly of two lights and lacking mullions, with a stepped light opening between them. Coped gables with kneelers and stacks are present, along with two further stacks along the ridge. The right return wall features two-light chamfered mullioned windows on the first floor. The rear elevation includes an 18th-century doorway with raised monolithic jambs to the left of an outshut. Adjacent to the outshut is a segmental bow containing a tall, chamfered light, possibly leading to a stone spiral staircase. Inside the main room is a wide, segmental-arched fireplace with joggled voussoirs and skewbacks.
