Description
This is a terrace of five houses, numbered 28 to 38, located on Main Street in Addingham. Built in 1817, the terrace was originally six houses, with number 38 later inserted into the side of number 36. The houses are constructed of dressed stone and have a stone slate roof. They are three storeys high and originally had eight bays of windows, though the window glazing has largely been altered. The windows are surrounded by raised stone detailing. Each house has a doorway with a semicircular arch, featuring impost blocks and a keystone. Houses 32 and 34 are paired together, and houses 30 and 36 retain original spoked glazed fanlights above their doorways. Four stone stacks and two brick stacks rise from the roof ridge. The left-hand return wall is rendered and contains a doorway leading to number 28. The right-hand return wall features doorways at each end, leading to numbers 36 and 38, and a bay of windows on each floor. Internally, the top storey was previously used as a loom shop, with intercommunicating doors. The terrace was formerly known as Cockshott Place.
