Description
Gildersber Farmhouse is a house that likely dates from the second quarter of the 18th century. It is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with dressed quoins and features a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and a three-room plan. The windows are all double-chamfered mullioned types with almost square reveals. From left to right, there is a three-light window with a similar window above it, followed by a four-light window with a king mullion and a chamfered surround, and finally a two-light window with the same style above it on the first floor. The gables are coped with kneelers, and there are two ridge stacks. The right-hand return wall has a lean-to that partly obscures a blocked first-floor doorway with tie-stone jambs. The rear of the house has altered windows and a two-light double-chamfered mullioned window to the right, along with a taller window at mezzanine level that lights the stair.
Inside, the house features a wide square-headed fireplace with a chamfered surround and an inner beehive oven that is brick-lined. The doorway to the parlour has monolithic jambs with a tie-stone lintel and a chamfered surround.
