Description
SADDLEWORTH MOUNT LANE SD 90 NE (north-west side) 3/206 Mount Sorrell Farmhouse and adjoining barn - and cottage - II Farmhouse, barn and cottage. Late C18, the barn and cottage being added in C19. Hammer-dressed watershot stone with graduated stone slate and slate roof. 3-bay 2-storey farmhouse with later wing to front right. The barn and cottage continue to the right. Farmhouse has central door with square-cut surround, 2-light window above and blocked taking-in door. Gabled wing projects to right. Gable chimney stacks. 2 and 3-light windows to gable. The rear has a 2, 3, 3 and 2-light window to the ground floor and 5, 3 and 2- light windows to the first floor. All have recessed flat- faced mullions many of which have been rendered over. The barn has an elliptical-headed cart entry with opposed winnowing door, a shippon door to right and a small brick extension. The cottage is of 1 bay and has a C20 casement window on each floor with stone lintels and sills and a door with square-cut door surround.
