Description

This is a house, likely dating from the late 18th century, situated with its entrance facing Lymm Bridge and its main windows facing the Bridgewater Canal. It is constructed of painted brick with stone dressings, and has a grey slate roof. The east face, towards Lymm Bridge, features a 6-panel door set within a plain sandstone doorcase, which includes bricked-up openings that once held sidelights and a rectangular fanlight. A 1-metre high flush sandstone plinth runs along the base, with flush stone quoins extending to a stone band at the first floor level. There is a blocked window opening above a gauged brick flat arch with a keystone, and coved sandstone eaves. The south face, towards the canal, displays a full-width gable extending over two storeys plus an attic. The lower storey features a late 19th-century boxed oriel window on the left and an altered sash window on the right. The upper storey has two 12-pane sashes, and the attic has a late 20th-century standard wood casement window. The interior of the house has not been inspected.

An attached screen wall, likely dating from the 18th century, stands between the corner of the house and the bridge abutment. It incorporates a central rebated opening. A flight of stone steps leads down to the towpath, and a simple wrought iron railing is fixed to the wall.
