Description

This early 19th-century building is a two-storey house constructed primarily of red brick, with a hipped roof covered in Welsh slate and two brick stacks. A moulded wooden eaves cornice runs along the roofline. The front elevation originally featured three windows, now later hung sash windows with glazing bars, set within segmental arches and topped with stone lintels, with a band running along the cills. The ground floor windows are now within two segmental bay windows, likely modern, with plain pilasters. The sash windows within the bay windows have glazing bars and a band at the cills. A central Doric doorcase, possibly modern, features fluted columns and an open pediment. The front door consists of six fielded panels, surmounted by a radiating fanlight. The side elevation is built of brown brick. A small, rendered wall with an iron railing is attached to the side. The building forms a group with Gainsborough Bridge, Bridge Road, and the former toll lodges located to the north and south of the east end of the bridge and Bridge Road.
