Description
The Vicarage of St John the Divine, dated '1887 Vigilans' above the door, is a plain Victorian Tudor building located on Ashcroft Road. It features red brick with ashlar dressings and consists of two storeys and attics. The structure includes three dated rain-water heads and three gables, which have stone coping and finials. The gables are positioned above two windows with four lights and one window with three lights, all featuring mullions and transoms. A string course runs between the attic and first floors. The first floor has three windows with six lights, also with mullions and transoms. On the ground floor, there is one window with two lights, one with four lights, and one single light window. To the right of the entrance, there are flanking lights with an arched head and dripmould, while an arched doorway with a stone surround is located to the left. An oriel window is present on the side elevation, and the roof is covered with Welsh slate, featuring a coped gable end to the right and a finial. The Vicarage is part of a group that includes the School building of St John the Divine and the Church of St John the Divine.
