Description
The former toll lodges to Gainsborough Bridge, located on the north and south sides at the east end of the bridge, date from the late 18th century or early 19th century. These are square, rendered buildings with one storey and hipped slate roofs that feature central stone stacks. Each lodge has one window on each side, except for the road-facing elevation, which includes flanking lights with hung sashes and glazing bars set in a recess that has a dentil cornice and a panelled door. One of the flanking lights on one lodge has been replaced by a hatch. These toll lodges, along with Gainsborough Bridge and No 2 Lea Road, form a cohesive group.
