Description
The barn at Lockett's Tenement Farm is a farmbuilding dating from the 17th century, incorporating earlier materials. It is constructed of English garden wall bond brick and features a 20th-century roof made of plain tiles. The barn is single storey, although it was originally two storeys.
The entrance front has an ashlar plinth and quoins at the corners. There are four camber-headed doorways on the ground floor, each with plank doors and ashlar hinge dressings. Two additional doorways have been blocked. Above these doorways are diamond and cross-shaped breathers, along with a 20th-century window located on the left side. The front also includes two gabled dormers, each containing a central circular hole with ashlar sills.
Inside, the barn features a pair of base crucks that are joined at their apex by a yoke. Additionally, two smaller cruck beams have been adapted to serve as beams set above internal buttresses.
