Description
The aqueduct over Watery Lane is a canal structure that carries the Macclesfield Canal across the road. It was built around 1827 by William Crosley. The aqueduct is made of yellow sandstone ashlar and features a single span cambered archway. The sides of the tunnel have battered walls, and the retaining walls curve around to align with the road. Above the arch, there are voussoirs and a projecting keystone that connects to a band beneath the parapet, which has a chamfered coping. The retaining walls end in square piers.
