Description

Bridge No. 81 is a road bridge over the Macclesfield Canal, built around 1827 by William Crosley. It is constructed from yellow sandstone coursed rubble with ashlar dressings. The bridge features a single span with a horseshoe arch made of voussoirs and a projecting keystone that connects with a band below the parapet. The walls on either side are battered, and the slightly curved retaining walls end in square piers. The top of the parapet has chamfered coping.
