Barn Circa 15 Metres East Of Guild Farmhouse

This barn, dating from the 17th century, is located approximately 15 meters east of Guild Farmhouse. It is constructed from handmade brick and features a roof made of corrugated sheet and old green slates at the front, with stone slates at the rear. The barn has small two-light brick mullion breathers at first floor level on both the front and rear walls, as well as on two levels in the gable.

The structure has a broad rectangular plan divided into two units, with the second unit projecting to the rear. The left section includes a wagon entrance porch with recessed wooden doors, while the right section is lofted and contains cattle stalls below. There is an original doorway in the center of the gable wall leading to the stalls, although the front end of the gable wall has been repaired and now features two vertically aligned doorways. The rear of the right section has two stable doors.

Inside, the barn has a roof supported by four bays, with a brick partition wall separating the two parts. The left section features a collar truss with angle struts connecting the tie-beam to the principals, along with three pairs of purlins, most of which have windbraces. The right section, which serves as the loft, has a middle cruck truss with a kingpost and four pairs of purlins, along with some small windbraces.
