Description
Forest Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely underwent remodelling in the 18th century, originally dating from the 17th century or earlier. It is constructed of handmade brick, with a tile front now covered in grey render that is scored to resemble stone. The roof is slate, featuring a brick chimney located just in front of the ridge. The building has a three-bay baffle-entry plan and stands two storeys high. The door aligns with the chimney at the junction of the second and third bays, and there are three low three-light casements on each floor. A notable feature of the exterior is the right gable wall, which is narrowly separated from the neighbouring barn and incorporates two cruck blades.
Inside, the layout follows a standard 17th-century plan with a central housepart. The first bay is axially partitioned, containing a parlour at the front and a dairy at the rear, while the kitchen is located in the third bay, featuring a spere, exposed beams, and joists, along with fielded panel doors.
