Description
The Old Congregational Chapel, dated 1753 above the porch, is a Congregational chapel that is now used as a meeting hall. It is built of roughcast stone with exposed quoins and has a stone slate roof. The building is small and rectangular, with a house attached at the southeast corner. The north gable facing the road features a low gabled porch topped by a simple arch made of stone slabs, with a rounded top inscribed "1753." Above the porch is a large round-headed window, and the gable has a datestone that reads "Renovated. 1906."
On the right side wall, there are three small round-headed windows and a taller one at the rear. The left side wall has two similar small windows, while the rear has a circular window. The attached house has three bays and two storeys, with the north gable wall made of coursed sandstone with quoins. This gable features two tall round-headed windows on the first floor, and both gables have double chimney flues linked with an arch resembling a bellcote. The roughcast east side wall of the house has three windows on each floor, all of which are round-headed, as are those on the rear gable. The interior of both parts is now of no interest.
