Description
Elswick Manor is a large house dating from the early 19th century. It is built of white-painted stucco with a slate roof, hipped at the right end. The house has a rectangular plan with extensions to the right end and rear. The front facade, facing the garden, is symmetrical except for a two-window extension on the right. A central panelled door is topped with a semi-circular fanlight, sheltered by a light trellis porch. There are three windows to the left of the door, five to the right, and nine windows at the first floor. All are 16-pane sashes with stone sills and splayed stone heads; the windows at the right end are slightly smaller. The rear elevation features a round-headed stairwell window, along with numerous windows similar to those on the front. Attached at the far right end is a later, single-storey chapel with round-headed windows. The interior has been significantly altered and is now of little architectural interest.
