Description
Western House, located on the southern side of The Square, is a house that possibly dates back to the early 18th century and has been altered over time. The building is rendered and features a corrugated iron roof over thatch, with a cross-wing plan. It stands two storeys high and has modern windows with plain reveals. The main front consists of two bays; on the ground floor, the left-hand bay includes a narrow window to the left of the door, and there is a third window between the bays. The cross-wing on the left has a modern bay window on the ground floor and a window with a segmental head above it. To the left of this, there is a parallel wing that is a later addition and lacks architectural interest. The house has chimneys located on the right-hand gable and on the ridge of the cross-wing where it meets the main roof. The interior is said to feature exposed ceiling joists.
