Description
Little Eccleston Hall Farmyard building is a quadrangular range of farm buildings dated 1820, as indicated by the keystone of the west barn. The structure is built of red brick with a sandstone plinth and dressings, featuring roofs made of slate and corrugated sheet. The layout is symmetrical, with an open entry in the center of the south range, and matching barns that make up the larger parts of the east and west sides. A long lofted cartshed closes the north end.
The barns project outward and have tall segmental-headed wagon doorways with dressed sandstone surrounds, with the keystone of the west barn inscribed with "1820". Each barn side has six diamond-pattern breathers. The cartshed, which was originally arcaded in the center with four or five basket-arched wagon entrances, has been blocked and altered. At each end of the cartshed, there are two doorways with massive sandstone lintels and jambstones. The first floor features four large pitching holes designed as open stilted lunettes with imposts and archivolts, and between these are X-pattern breathers. A relocated datestone above the central opening reads "16 6 Returned ends I.F." This range connects with the barns.
At the south end of the yard, there is a single-storey stable and feeding shed flanking the entrance on the east and west sides, respectively.
