Description
Little Eccleston Hall is a farmhouse dated 1638 and 1671 on the rear gables, but it contains earlier fabric and was enlarged and altered in the 19th century. The building is constructed of brick covered with pebble-dashed render and features a stone slate and slate roof, with chimneys on the ridge and at the junctions with the wings. It has an H-plan layout, consisting of a 2-bay center with a 3-bay crosswing to the left (south) and an early 19th-century wing to the right (north). The house has two storeys, with a central 2-storey gabled porch that includes a round-headed entrance arch, a 2-light casement above, and a ball finial at the apex. There are large 3-light casements on both floors on each side, as well as similar but larger windows in the gables of the wings. The rear gables of the wings feature datestones, with "1671" in the south wing and "1638" in the north wing, both presumably relocated. Although access to the interior is denied, it is understood to contain a full cruck truss at the junction of the housepart and the south wing.
