Description
The field barn, dating from the second half of the 18th century, features English bond brickwork with garden wall bond at the gables and a tiled roof. It is a three-bay structure with double boarded doors at the center, flanked by 450mm projecting buttresses, which support a lean-to extension of the main roof. The lintel above the doors is slightly below the porch eaves, with infill above. On either side of the doors, there are large diamond-shaped brick grille air vents and dentil eaves. The parapet gables have stone coping, although the coping is missing on the right half of the gable. The left return, which faces the road, has a similar large air vent and a small window cut low on the left. There is also a square owl hole in the apex gable. Inside, the walls are thickened on either side of the doors, and a loft has been inserted at the road end. The barn features queen-strut trusses, two pairs of purlins, and a plank ridge. This prominent and well-preserved barn is located by the road, with a lean-to on the back and a single-storey extension that is not of special interest.
