Description

Canal Bridge No. 79 is a road bridge that carries Peel Lane over the Macclesfield Canal, built around 1827 by William Crosley. The bridge is constructed from yellow sandstone coursed rubble with ashlar dressings. It features a single-span design with a horseshoe arch made of voussoirs and a projecting keystone that connects with the band below the parapet. The walls on either side are battered, and there are slightly curved retaining walls that end in square piers. The top of the parapet has chamfered coping.
