Description
This canal milestone, dating from around 1830, is made of ashlar sandstone, which is tooled on the sides and shaped at the top. The west face of the milestone displays the inscription: "From / Marple / 18 Miles". The east face has the inscription: "From / H--- Green / - Miles". This milestone is part of a notable series of milestones and distance markers, as well as bridges, located along the Macclesfield Canal.
