Description

Bridge Number 60 on the Macclesfield Canal, built around 1830, was engineered by William Crosley. It is constructed from coursed sandstone blocks with ashlar dressings. The bridge features a horseshoe or elliptical arch made of voussoirs, topped with a prominent keystone that rises to a chamfered band just below the parapet. The walls end in square piers, and the parapet has coping. This bridge is part of a series of notable bridges, milestones, and distance markers along the Macclesfield Canal.
